Tent Weddings

Please read if you are considering outside Weddings, by Tim Wedeman.
Many times over the years, potential brides and grooms have asked my opinion about having their reception under a tent during the months of May-October.
There are many pros and cons for outside weddings and I’m sure you have heard, if you haven’t, here’s my take the short version.
The most important thing you will or should be looking for is the weather. Make sure your guests and professionals are comfortable. Have plenty of fans on hand. If you don’t have any fans, most likely, it will an early night, why? Too hot and uncomfortable.
Have plenty of bottled water available, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to have it at each table. Hydrate!
Make sure you rent a tent of great quality. We always recommend at least 2 companies, Total Events and Taylor Rental, that have awesome quality. Please tell them we sent sent you. On time delivery and set up, NO leaks, very stable.
Our contract has stipulations for how our set up should be, when you inquire we will go over all of the details.
In brief: We must have at least two (2) 3 prong outlets that must not be shared with others, ie: Catering company, Video, Photo, other. Too many things can go wrong, ie: Tripped breaker during your introductions, first dance, etc.
Make sure you have back up power. If you are using a generator, make sure it’s the quiet type. Nothing like a LOUD GENERATOR DURING THE FIRST DANCE! YAY! You get my point.
We must be on a platform, or a stage of some sort, not on the ground, why? In case of inclement weather and it rains, the rain will go through the bottom of the tent. That is where our equipment is, that and water do not mix…Our contract states this.
All music systems and equipment during thunderstorms will be shut off and unplugged during the storm (s). We will not fight with Mother nature as she always wins!
